Dina created a new opening sequence for the Norwegian edition. The editors felt that the original ornamental storytelling style of the English first edition might be too complex for younger readers. Dina agreed, and instead produced a series of striking illustrations in the same visual language as the rest of the book. The format was also reduced, from the original 30 × 22 cm to 16.5 × 24 cm. This was done to position the publication more clearly as a “book” rather than a “graphic novel”, and thereby secure better placement in bookshops.
The story follows the young Snowcat prince Syv on his journey across the Blue Plains to recover the magical crown seized by the Sandfoxes thousands of years ago. The land of the Snowcats has fallen into hardship and decline after the death of the old king. Syv’s malicious older brothers, eager to rid themselves of their inconveniently popular sibling, send him alone on this dangerous quest.
What follows is a grand adventure — a long journey that will grant Syv both self-knowledge and courage.
